Colin Bennett, the 2006 Green Party
candidate for State Comptroller, completes an outstanding slate of outspoken
candidates for the Green Party of Connecticut. As the primary auditor of all state
expenditures and revenues, it is especially important to have an independent
Comptroller not beholden to either the Democrats or Republicans in the state government.
Colin is a Justice of the Peace in Westbrook and has previously run for Board of Education
in Westbrook and for State Senate in the 33rd District.
Colin's community service includes the following: current member of the Westbrook Forest Commission, Marine Science Technician in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, founder and president of the Great Land Conservation Trust, Inc., former volunteer with the Westbrook Fire Department, former elementary school teacher in Norwich Diocese Catholic Schools, former advisor for the Saint Bernard High School Environmental Club in Uncasville. Colin has a degree in Communication from Southern Connecticut State University and is currently working on an graduate degree in Environmental Education with a certificate in Women's Studies. He is now working as a campaign organizer for Clean Water Action in Hartford. He has received training from many environmental groups including the Student Environmental Action Coalition, the Sierra Student Coalition, The Climate Campaign, and the Sierra Club.
