The USA PATRIOT Act, passed by Congress in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, has given the FBI and other law enforcement agencies the power to access your medical records, your library records, and your student records without a warrant and without probable cause. The Act also allows non-citizens to be deported or detained indefinitely without judicial appeal, and often without access to legal counsel.

Over 400 communities and 8 states (Hawaii, Alaska, Vermont, Maine, Idaho, Montana, Colorado & California) have passed resolutions opposing unconstitutional provisions of the PATRIOT Act and supporting the Bill of Rights. In CT, resolutions have already passed in Bethany, Coventry, Hampton, Hartford, Lyme, Mansfield, New Haven, Norwalk, and Windham. We are working with the American Civil Liberties Union, the Office of the Community Lawyer, and a coalition of religious, civil rights, and immigrant groups, as well as individuals from across the political spectrum—whether liberal, conservative, or libertarian—who are concerned about attacks on our rights of privacy and due process under the US Constitution.

Join this grassroots coalition of Connecticut patriots! Help us pass an ordinance or resolution in your town to protect your home and family from undue search, seizure, and surveillance.
