Colin Bennett is the 2010 Green Party
candidate for State Comptroller. As the primary auditor of all state
expenditures and revenues, it is especially important to have an independent
Comptroller not beholden to either the Democrats or Republicans in the state government.
Colin has served as a Justice of the Peace in Westbrook and has previously run for Board of Education
in Westbrook and for State Senate in the 33rd District. He served as clean energy organizer for Clean
Water Action 2006-2008 and assistant district manager for the Climate Project. He is now a graduate student in
Women's Studies at Southern Connecticut State University.
Colin's community service includes the following: member of the Westbrook Forest Commission,
Marine Science Technician in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, founder and president of the
Great Land Conservation Trust, Inc., outreach coordinator for the Environmental Futurists at Southern
Connecticut State University, volunteer with the Westbrook Fire Department, teacher
at Saint Mary's School in New London, and advisor for the Saint Bernard High School
Environmental Club in Uncasville. Colin has a degree in Environmental Education from SCSU and
has received training from many environmental groups
including the Student Environmental Action Coalition, the Sierra Student Coalition, and The
Climate Campaign.
