I believe the voters of Connecticut deserve real representation in Hartford and look to provide a resonable alternative to the "politics as usual" candidates that head the major party lines. I was born and raised in Milford and have seen many changes throughout the community over the yers. I believe that the residents have been neglected throughout the last election and am looking to make the people the cornerstone of my campaign. The past two years have been riddled with recession nationwide and Milford's economy is still in ruins. -- Foreclosures are at a 20 year high in town, businesses such as Shick and Bic have been rorced to relocate due to high taxes taking with them thousands of jobs. --Businesses that managed to hang on through the recession are being forced to make cuts in staff an benefits and are recieveing no relief whatsoever from the Hartford Lawmakers. --Milford's unemployment rate is higher then the state average. --School budget cuts have led to teacher layoffs and the closing of grammer schools which is forcing some schools to become overcrowded and the quality of great education in Milford is in jeopardy.
These are just a few things that have happened during Barbara Lambert's watch as State Representative. I would never have stood by and let my town literally just self-destruct. The time for change has come.
DAVE'S VISION AND PRIORITIES --Provide tax breaks to small businesses already in town and tax incentives to businesses who relocate to Milford which will create jobs and grow the local economy through revenue. --Provide aide and alternatives to those in danger of housing foreclosure. --I will introduce legislation that will provide assistance to students who wish to persue higher eduaction, but cannot afford college costs. Every student with good grades that wants to go to college should have the right to do so. --I will make sure that no more schools close on my watch. Class size overcrowding and over worked teachers leads to lower quality of education and every student should get the same oppertunity as other small towns have. --I will hold weekly town-hall type meetings for residents where I will listen to your issues and ideas. I will try my best to incorporate these ideas into legistlation in Hartford. --I will be honest, trustworthy, and independant in Hartford even if it makes me enemies.

- If elected job creation will be the forefront of my administration ON JUNE 5TH I ANNOUNCED THAT I WOULD BE EXPLORING A RUN FOR STATEEPRESENTIVE IN MILFORD'S 118TH DISTRICT. PLEASE BEAR WITH ME WHILE I BUILD A STAFF AND FILE THE NECCESARY PAPERWORK TO BECOME A CANDIDATE.
I SEE THE COMING ELECTION AS A CHANCE TO SHOW OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS THAT WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THEIR GAMES AND ITS OUR TURN TO TAKE BACK OUR GOVERNMENT. I GREW UP IN MILFORD AND AS YOU CAN EXPECT I HAVE SEEN MANY THINGS CHANGE OVER THE YEARS. WHAT WAS ONCE THE IDEAL SHORELINE TOWN FOR MIDDLE CLASS WORKING FAMILIES HAS EVOLVED INTO A COMMUNITY OF HAVES AND HAVE NOTS. BUSINESSES SUCH AS BIC AND SCHICK HAVE RELOCATED OUT OF TOWN TAKING WITH THEM MANY JOBS AND CAREERS. THE NEWLY ELECTED TOWN COUNCIL HAS ELECTED TO CLOSE SCHOOLS IN ORDER TO BALENCE THEIR BUDGET, LAYING OFF NEARLY A HUNDRED TEACHERS AND RELOCATING STUDENTS TO VARIOUS SCHOOLS WHERE THEIR CLASS SIZES WILL INCREASE AND THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION WILL GO DOWN. THESE THINGS ARE JUST A FEW ISSUES THAT I WILL ADDRESS ONCE ELECTED. I WILL NOT SIT BACK AND LET THE MORE AFFLUENT PEOPLE TAKE OVER THIS TOWN LIKE THEY'VE DONE IN SO MANY SHORELINE TOWNS OVER THE YEARS. I HAVE GROWN TIRED OF GOING INTO THE VOTING BOOTH AND MERELY SETTLING FOR THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS. I COULDN'T SIT BACK AND LET THIS HAPPEN TO MILFORD WITHOUT GIVING THE RESIDENTS A CHOICE. IN THE END ITS NOT ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY YOU RAISE OR HOW MANY CONNECTIONS YOU HAVE. IT BOILS DOWN TO WHO DO YOU THINK WILL DO MORE GOOD. CAREER POLITICIANS WHO GET GREASED BY LOBBYISTS OR EVERYDAY JOE'S SUCH AS MYSELF WHO WORKS 2 JOBS JUST TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE,SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER BACKED DOWN FROM A CHALLENGE, AND SOMEONE WHO WILL HAVE IMPROVING THE LIVES OF THE RESIDENTS AS HIS CORNERSTONE OF HIS ADMINISTRATION. I'M NOT GOING TO SHY FROM THE FACT THAT I'M LACKING EXPERIANCE FROM THE GOVERNING STANDPOINT, BUT IT WAS THOSE PEOPLE WITH THE EXPERIANCE THAT GOT US INTO THIS MESS. ITS STILL EARLY ON IN THE ELECTION, BUT I ASK YOU TO LOOK OUTSIDE THE BOX AND GIVE ME A CHANCE, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
