Internal Elections and State Bank Highlight Convention

HARTFORD - Jonathan Pelto, who is considering running for Governor as a third party candidate, will speak at the Green Party of Connecticut Convention on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 12 Noon to 4 PM at the Portland CT Senior Center, located at 7 Waverly Ave, Portland, CT. The convention will also elect internal officers to the party and is free and open to the public.

Other Highlights of the Upcoming GPCT Convention:

  • 1 pm to 1:45 pm: Ed Heflin, PhD and MBA, US academic educator, EU and Asian investment banking consultant, and advocate for a CT State Bank will speak for 30 minutes about the concept of public state banking and its implications for CT. This will be followed by 15 minutes of questions and answers from attendees.
  • 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm: Speech by Jonathan Pelto. Mr. Pelto is a former Democratic CT state representative from Mansfield. He will address his concerns about the federally mandated School Core Curriculum (i.e. "education deform"), which he believes promotes the privatization of public education and the promotion of corporate control over CT education. Mr. Pelto will also raise his concerns about how this new curriculum may limit the actions of education unions. He will also answer questions about running for Governor as an Independent or under the Working Families Party ballot line.
  • Planning for the participation of the CT Green Party in the 2014 election will also take place during this event. Light refreshments will be served and Green Party of CT literature will be available at this event.
